Happy Independence Day!
Jul. 4th, 2012 12:28 pmHappy Independence Day! 236 years ago, this grand experiment of American Democracy commenced. It wasn't perfect, and it's far from perfect now, but it's still standing and we keep working on it.
I love this holiday. It's one day where I'm allowed to be idealistic about my country. I love fireworks- I'm hoping it hasn't been too dry to have them this year. I also love ribs, sweet corn, watermelon and strawberry short-cake sundaes. And baseball!
Usually, I also watch 1776, but I can't find my DVD (it's probably in a box in the storage locker) and it's not on Netfix streaming. Which is unfortunate. But I'm sure we'll find something to occupy ourselves (Criminal Minds marathon at the moment).
