I wanted to watch *something*, but I wasn't up for a third episode of Haven today. So I figured I'd start catching up on NCIS:LA. This is Ep. 4 in Season 5, so I'm a little behind...but I'm putting it under a cut, because this one may have major spoilers for certain long term story arcs and I know [personal profile] ernads and [personal profile] antongarou have been watching previous seasons and I don't think they've gotten this far.

G and Deeks on the climbing wall. G's like, "Sam! He's like, 5 inches taller than I am. This is not exactly a fair fight!" Sam's like, "No, you can totally do it. Totally! Go on, he's getting tired!"

Ohhh, Hetty. Trying to protect G generally backfires. Badly. He won't thank you for it. And Sam is not going to like keeping him in the dark. Particularly if the opening teaser is accurage.

Yup. Granger is not any better at shaking a tail from G than anyone else. G's going to get his information. You might as well have let him go from the beginning. Saw that one coming a mile away.

Oh, fuck you, Hetty. Like you didn't know he wasn't going to go to Camp Pendleton. I mean, yes, obviously, G shouldn't be investigating this case. But the better course of action would probably have been to sit him down and say, "look, here's what's happening. You can sit here with Nell and Eric and you'll know everything when we know it, but you can't go to the scene." He would have pitched a hissy fit, but he probably would have cooperated. Mostly.

And confirmation of G's physical abuse. Not that we were unaware.

Oooohhhhh. The camera guy at Amy's grave that G never could catch.

And I'm kind of pissed at this guy already. If it is G's father, then seriously, he'd best have had a fucking good reason. If he'd been taking photos of G all along, he knew where he was. And he had to have known what G was going through. So I kind of hope this guy is not G's father.

The Comesecus are the most logical option. Logic, however, is not so much on this show.

Granger, sending him home is a really bad idea. If he's in Ops with everyone else, then you at least know where he is. Send him home, and God only knows what he'll get up to on his own. Not to mention that Sam will be seriously distracted if he doesn't have line of sight on G right now, which won't help anyone. Seriously, Owen. Have you figured nothing out about G in the past two-three years?

Ah, we are going with the logic this time. Good idea.

What did I just tell you? Don't leave G alone right now, because he's going to go on and figure it out on his own. Although I'll bet money that Sam knows exactly where G is and exactly what he's trying to do, because he was way too casual about not having seen G leave.

Heh. Sam was not happy about Granger driving the Challenger.

Yup. I was pretty sure this was where G was headed. Of course, his first stop is going to be Arkady. I kinda like Arkady, actually. He's an SOB, but a useful SOB.

Arkady, G knows how to not get pulled over when he's pulling shit like this. It's kind of his job.

"Damn. I killed my witness/informant again. That's annoying." Oh, G.

Or die trying indeed.

(Watching this over a year after it aired does eliminate some of the suspense here. I've seen enough trailers for recent episodes to know everyone comes out of things perfectly well, regardless of what the opening teaser showed).

Oh, this should be good. Kensi, Deeks and Arkady in a room. And yes, Kensi and Deeks, G has friends outside of the team. Or "friends." But at least people who don't mean him harm.

Yup. G's leaving Sam breadcrumbs.

I can think of a couple reasons why G took the battery too. Most of them have to do with blowing things up. Oh, look. That appears to be exactly what G's planning to do. Hopefully without himself in the car, but I wouldn't guarantee anything in G's head right now.

Mmm, Hetty and Arkady. Even better. And of course they know each other.
"If I did have something, you shouldn't assume it would make any difference right now." Heh. Not much is going to make a lot of difference right now.

Yup. Called that one too. Of course Arkady knows Reinhart. G knew what he was doing, even if the photo hadn't lead him to Arkady in the first place.

Yeah, this might be the last of the Comesescus standing here.

Oh, good, we aren't blowing up the car with G in it. Nice job

Oh, Granger. There's an explosion where you're going. Exactly who do you think is right there causing said explosion? Right. About knocking himself out in the process. And you need to get better at this being in a car with Sam thing, because yeah.

Sam, shoulda taken the Challenger. Wouldn't have crashed in the Challenger, I bet.

We're all gonna be on painkillers and concussion watch after this one, aren't we.

And now we've looped back to the teaser. Hm. Two parter? No. Great. There's like, 8 minutes of show time left, so this is going to be a leave us hanging. Great. This damn show.

I love that G can totally shoot people with a probable concussion. Of course, he has a lot of practice. Seriously, the guy should have TBI by now.

The debt is paid? That...is not helpful.

No, wait. No, no. The guy's got another name? Wait...ohhhhh.

1969 is prior to G's birth. We were guessing 1970, so that fits.

Russian soldier does maybe fit for G's father.

Ah-ha! Schrieber was the one with the address book.

Ah-ha!!!! Yes, Yes, YES. One piece of headcanon of mine has been Clara wanted to come in from the cold because her husband/guy she was with/person who fathered G and Amy may have been arrested. Because being arrested in Romania in the early 1970s was probably a good way to never see anyone again.

Ohhhh. Oh. God. Oh, G. Oh, baby. There's 8 mm film. Of him, and his sister and his father. Oh, sweetheart.

(and oh, thank God, he was actually crying while watching it. Thank you for letting go on that iron grip of yours for a minute, G. God, you needed it. Of course, I'm crying too, now, but that was to be expected. Seriously, if you're invested in this show and you didn't get at least a little choked up watching that, then I don't even know).

That episode was the only good one that season. It was perfect, but it was seriously the only good thing. (I kept up with that season as long as I did before giving up because of This One Ep.)
