I am starting to understand why chronic pain is a major contributor to bad mental states. I've probably been living with chronic pain for a very, very long time without recognizing it, and I've certainly been living with chronic illness for my entire life, but oh, my God, my head just might drive me around the bend.

It does not help that this is a period month and it's decided to be a bad period month- about 1 period in three, I get hit hard. I try not to complain, because I'm aware that even my bad cycles are better than some people's normal cycles. I didn't luck out when it came to period related depression, but I did generally get lucky with the cramps and flow once I got past age 14 (the first couple years were pretty rough and then they evened out). Except this time around, I'm at the end of day three and it's still crime scene time every time I go to the restroom and the cramps and backache are still at about a level 7-8 on the pain scale (normal cramps are usually about a 5. And usually only one day at the most. Like I said, lucky). And dealing with additional pain? Not helping. Ibuprofen isn't doing more than taking the very edge off and when that's the case, I'm almost better off not taking it (I start throwing an allergic reaction to ibuprofen and I am so completely fucked. Tylenol doesn't do shit for any of my major pain unless combined with ibuprofen. I'm allergic to all other NSAIDs, in the "causes asthma attacks" sense. So I try to be really judicious with the ibuprofen). Hell, even taking the tramadol last night didn't completely work.

I really can't do this. I mean, obviously, I will, but fuck. This is feeling like a very deep hole and I really don't wanna be down the very deep hole again.

Hey. Bumped into you on Latest Things page.

Just a comment to say I hear you, on several levels.

Yeah, I hear you very well as well. The one advice I can offer when pills don't work (With Firbo most pills don't do a thing for me) is physiotherapy. Doing simple exercise can't center you and focus your attention away from pain, as well as relax - and that's the most important thing when the psychical and mantel pains begin to mix.

I'm tempted to mail you some Optalgin. It's the only thing that works for [personal profile] tamara_russo. Or maybe the regular strength paracetamol/codeine/caffeine, which is OTC here.

Edit. Strike the Optalgin out: it's counterindicated to you for at least two different reasons.

I can testify that the paracetamol/codeine/caffeine works for me on a limited level, that is what I use for worst period pains or headaches. It eases the cramps.

If you mail me your address I can send you some, got several closed units.
