miss_lucy21Spent most of my day avoiding Facebook and the parade of Mothers Day posts. Because I wasn't up for it today. However, I did see a photo of my maternal grandmother that my aunt posted and went, huh. that's where my hair color came from. Both of my parents and my brother have dark brown hair. Mine was dirty blond my entire childhood and is now light brown with blond highlights and a fair bit of red. My grandma apparently had light brown hair with red highlights. I didn't know that- when I knew her, her hair was all grey. She passed away when I was 8, so while I definitely have memories of her, I didn't know her as well as I knew my paternal grandmother (who didn't pass away until I was 27).
(She didn't die extremely young- she was 70. So, kind of young, but given the fact that she'd had cancer for about 15 years at that point and the fact that when she was born, the life expectancy for women was about 42, she did pretty well. My other grandparents lived longer in part because they were much younger than she was- my grandfather was her second husband. That, and none of the rest of them had cancer. Cardiac problems, they knew what to do about in the 70s and 80s. Cancer, not so much. Or at least what they did know didn't work that well).
So, yeah. Not a great day. I also had the problem of discovering the arm band I bought to hold my phone while I work out doesn't actually go around my arm. And then I couldn't actually find an armband online that would be large enough to go around my arm. Because why would a fat person need workout gear, right? Actually, I expected that this would be something that would be out there, because body builders have upper arms that can easily be the size of mine, or even larger. But no. I did find an option that clips to the waistband, but hangs down so it's out of the way if you're doing squats or something. So I ordered that and we'll see if that works. And the swimsuits I ordered don't fit, so I need to exchange them for a larger size, which is also annoying (there is a larger size available, at least).
