This was a very long week. It went from being low to moderate humidity (in the 50-60% range) to being very humid (in the 80-90% range) pretty much overnight. My lungs pitched a minor fit. Which meant I had to be extra cautious about working out, which meant I pretty much didn't. Also, my insomnia decided to kick up either Friday or Saturday night last weekend (I can't remember which now) and it was not just the Lucy-can't-fall-asleep kind, it was also the wake-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night-and-can't-go-back-to-sleep kind, which happens less often, but is more annoying. So, I was extra tired, between my lungs protesting breathing water instead of air (seriously, one morning the humidity was at 98%) and the fact that I was sleeping for crap.
And people were out sick at work and I was hoping that I would not pick up this bug because it comes with a seriously nasty cough, which would probably knock me flat for a month. So far, I'm fine, which means I probably will stay fine, because the person with the bug actually stayed home until they were most likely not contagious any longer (the other person who was out sick had a migraine).
And it rained. A lot.
So, not fabulous. I did reasonably well, though. My lunches worked out really well- kind of like a steak burrito without the tortilla- so that one is a definite keeper. I do need to work on afternoon snacks, though, because snap peas, as much as they are yummy and satisfyingly crunchy, are not an adequate snack on their own. Why I keep forgetting that vegetables have next to no calories and therefore I really need to eat something else with them, I have no idea. Probably many years of dieting where veggies were suggested as an ideal snack. And, it's summer, so I want veggies, because they taste really good right now. Especially the stuff coming in my CSA box. Pretty much everything I've had from the CSA box has been delicious. Even the stuff I wasn't sure I was going to like- I'm getting something unfamiliar every week, if I can. So far, I've tried Napa cabbage (good, but the stirfry I made was not great), bok choy (much more successful stirfry), and kohlrabi (I like kohlrabi. Tonight I tried it roasted with potatoes and bacon and very yummy).
I did sleep well last night, and I had a nap today, so I cut the deficit a bit. Not much got done today and probably not a whole lot will get done tomorrow because it's Father's Day, so I'll be going over to my parents for dinner at the least. But I don't have anything going on in the evening on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, so I can get some stuff done then if I at least get the minimum done tomorrow. The chicken for this week's lunches is done, so I just have to make rice tomorrow and do breakfasts. I haven't made bread, but I have a loaf in the freezer so that'll do this week. I also am pretty sure I have enough clothes to at least make it to Wednesday, if not the whole week, so laundry can wait a day or two.
Monday, we are having a retirement party for two of my co-workers, so that will be a late evening for me. I probably won't get home until about 9 or later, which is past bedtime for me, because I go to bed around the same time as your average third grader. I'll probably skip the swim on Tuesday morning.
And it's now bedtime so I need to get in gear and get ready for bed.
