So, we wound up not going to Cleveland after all. Dad had a blood sugar issue Saturday night (he's fine- this happens) and wasn't feeling well on Sunday, so we decided to scrap it. We'll go up and visit the cemeteries sometime soon.

And really, that was probably the best decision for all of us, even if we were pretty disappointed to miss the opportunity to see Dad's school (it does not exist as a high school any longer, so opportunities to see it opened up are rare). Mom has a ton of school work this week and while she was fine with taking a day off for the trip, it would have made the rest of the week more stressful (she is having trouble adjusting to being a graduate student + full time teacher. It's gotten better recently, but first semesters are just rough). And I was pretty tired, so having two days to relax was an excellent thing for me.

Yesterday, I slept until about 11 and then spent most of the afternoon dozing on the couch in front of a baseball game. Today, I was up at 5, and although I went back to bed after getting something to eat, I woke up just before 8. And I haven't been overwhelmingly tired today, so I may have caught up the sleep debt. I realized this morning that this was the first time I was that seriously tired since I recovered from surgery. I hadn't noticed that I was doing that much better- I still nap on the weekends, but it's usually just an hour or so and it's more because I can take a nap or because I really just want the quiet time. So, that was a nice realization.

Today, I've mostly been picking away at my to-do list. Kitchen cleanup, laundry, other assorted things. Since I have Friday off, too, I'm thinking I'm going to do a Big Clean like I did in January. Doing that every 6 months probably isn't a bad idea, and it's definitely better than it was in January (and I have more energy and stamina) so I might get the spare room cleaned up too. Which I've been ignoring since January. So, that's an attractive idea. We'll see. At some point here, like, in the next 15 minutes, I need to get dressed and go work out and then shower and go to the store to get some fruit and a couple other things that I didn't manage to pick up on Saturday.

I also probably should go get my allergy shot, but last week's was a touch rough- not bad enough to need my inhaler or something, and it didn't last long, but I was a bit coughy afterwards. There was a pattern last year where I would be fine for about 4 weeks of shots, but have a big reaction on the 5th week, and then have to skip two weeks and the whole thing would start over again until I got sick last fall and couldn't do the shots for awhile (if I'm sick, I can't get my shot. It's too risky). So I think I'm going to skip this week and see if that short-circuits the pattern.
