Okay, so burnout is really real
Apr. 20th, 2016 06:34 pmWhich, I knew, but I have apparently never quite reached this level of burnout. I did spend most of Monday sleeping. And then I figured, great, I'll get some work done on Tuesday. Except I did the first thing on my list (clean off the coffee table), and immediately needed to go take a two hour nap. After about 15 minutes worth of work.
Yeah, I've drastically scaled back what I plan to get done this week.
And also, it occurred to me, I'm supposed to be relaxing and possibly having some fun. Which not something I am super great at, but might be necessary now.
Some things do actually need to get done, if only for my continued mental health. The kitchen absolutely needs cleaned up and reorganized, because I cannot deal with the only working space in the kitchen being roughly 6 inches by 6 inches. And the laundry needs to be done, and the bathrooms need to be at least wiped down. But if my bedroom doesn't get picked up or if I don't get to doing anything in the second bedroom, that is okay. It is not like this is my only opportunity to clean my apartment. I kind of live here. I don't plan on not living here at any point in the near future. It's okay.
Today was somewhat better. I did go get most of my errands done (I still have packages to take to ship, but I could not find the packing tape, so one errand was to get packing tape). And only needed a 90 minute nap after being out and about for a couple hours (and having been up and doing stuff before I left). I've also gotten the kitchen counter and sink completely cleaned while I was waiting for my dinner to finish cooking (baked potato). Depending on how I feel after I eat, I might at least pull stuff out of the cupboards so I can start figuring out how to reorganize it.
Tomorrow, I am getting a massage (I decided to splurge and get two this month, because everything from the base of my skull to my knees is in spasm due to the really awful temporary desk chair. Some of it is better for having not sat in that chair for several days, but not all of it). And I need to go up to church to talk to the office manager who handles communications about Outreach communications.
Friday, I think I will go get a pedicure- I've decided that outsourcing my toenails is worth the cost, given how much of a literal pain in the neck it is for me to do it myself. My last pedicure was at the beginning of February, so every two and a half months is definitely affordable. (my toenails grow really slowly. This is the first week they've looked like they actually need cut).
And then this weekend, I'll do the normal weekend stuff that needs to happen to make my week be something other than a giant mess. And go from there for the rest of the stuff that needs to happen around here. But honestly, if the kitchen is dealt with, everything else is doable.
But yeah. Exhaustion. Who knew?
