May. 4th, 2016 07:31 pm The chiropractor visit went well. Everyone was very kind, the facility is beautiful- plus has plenty of fat-friendly chairs (I fit in 95% of chairs I encounter, since I'm mostly wide front to back and not side to side, but I still look around to see what options there are for people built differently than I am). I liked the center, which also has a fitness center and pool.
The chiro says my mobility is pretty good and it appears that there is not any major issues or structural problems. It's most likely muscular, but he did some adjustments to see if that will loosen things up a bit. And did some electro-stim, which I hate, but have to admit works. Said I should start walking more. And to stand on one foot throughout the day to build core strength without aggravating my back too much. I go back next week to follow up and he said he'd probably give me some core exercises to do that would be good. He also said that if I was so moved to consider some yoga, I should do that. I have cultural appropriation issues with yoga- in that I'm not sure that it's not appropriative for me to do it- but I might do some more research and think about it.
(Best part? No one mentioned my weight. They weighed me, which I was fine with, but it was just a piece of data for the chart and no one even hinted that it might be part of the problem)
(It likely isn't- I've had similar problems with the same or more severity when I weighed considerably less than I do right now. Like, 70 pounds less)
The fitness center, however, looked really nice. And quiet. And calm. And well lit. And pretty much everything my current gym is Not. So I filled out a form to get more information. If it's reasonably priced, I might join. I'll probably keep my current gym membership so I can go swimming with Mom (it would make next to no sense for her to move to this fitness center, even if it's affordable, because it's about 25 minutes from their house and not on the way to anything. It's less than 10 minutes from me, and I'm up over that way a lot, and it's not really out of my way to get to work, either). We'll see.

Date: 2016-05-06 11:56 am (UTC)So good to hear that. Nice to see
my idiotic mother is certain (and keeps lecturing me on it) that all my problems, from back issue to epilepsy to sleep issues to whatever, are all the result of my 30 extra pounds. She is certain that if I just loose them, alllll health issues will magically vanish...
