Okay. Apparently, Symbicort (which is what my doctor called in, which I expected) has the same LABA as Dulera with a different steroid. LABA is...I forget, but it's the medicine that relaxes smooth muscles in the bronchial tubes, as opposed to the steroids, which reduce inflammation. The combination works well on severe asthma, but the LABA drugs have some potentially dangerous side effects, so most of the time they want you to just be on a steroid if things are under control. I don't get the dangerous side effect- and if I were going to have a problem, it would have happened years and years ago- and I do much, much better with the combo drugs, so I'm on them long term. Which my insurance hates, however, they can bite me. Also, despite what they think, these are not interchangeable. But, having the same LABA ought to mean the switch-over shouldn't be too difficult (I am pretty sure I've been on the steroid before. I am pretty sure I have been on all the steroids before).

Crisis not entirely averted- I have to go pick it up from the pharmacy and didn't manage to do that yesterday- but I am a little more comfortable with swapping meds now. I see my allergist in about two weeks (which I had forgotten), so if things are going rough in the early going, I already have the appointment.

Also, the two giant things at work are done and next week should be better. I got some sleep, I'm going to do some laundry and try to get all the trash taken out, and then see what I have energy for.
