NaNo#5: Lazy Saturday (SGA)
Nov. 5th, 2011 04:25 pmOne of the very few benefits to the city's current location off the San Francisco coast was the ability to get a satellite television feed. As far as John was concerned, that was the *only* benefit this week. He had spent the week in Colorado, attempting to make the case that the Wraith were still a threat to earth for the 97th time, in an effort to convince the IOA that Atlantis needed to go back to Pegasus. He and Woolsey were making progress, but still did not have a go order. General O'Neill had said if it were up to him, they'd be back already, but it wasn't up to him. So, it had been a lousy week to begin with.
He'd gone down to the office he shared with Lorne to deal with the paperwork that had undoubtedly piled up while he was away (that was a definite drawback to being on Earth; the SGC expected them to turn their paperwork around much more quickly when they were only a time zone away). But someone from IT had been messing with his computer while he was gone and they'd upgraded something and all of a sudden his email was no longer speaking to him and none of his documents would open. Lorne had come in while he was grumbling at the screen and had explained that the IT guys had said they'd fix it by Monday. Which meant John wasn't going to get at any of his paperwork today, and maybe he should consider taking a day or two off? John heard the subtle suggestion that he vacate the office and not take his mood out on his 2IC or his men and agreed.
So, what to do on an unexpectedly free fall Saturday when you're in a lousy mood? Crash on Ronon's couch in front of the big screen and commandeer the remote. Ronon was coming around on the idea of football, so he was fine with John setting the tv to College Gameday so long as John shared his popcorn. They lounged on the couch and John attempted to explain the finer nuances of pass interference. Teyla found them several hours later both dozing in front of a halftime show and smiled. She just tugged a blanket over each of them, turned down the volume and let them sleep.
