Aug. 2nd, 2012 05:27 pmI have been pretty much overdosing on the Olympics this week. Today alone, I've seen some swimming, beach volleyball, track cycling, judo, rowing, kayaking, and now handball. I already know what happened with some of the main swimming events and the women's gymnastics all-around, but I won't see them until tonight (I decided not to try and avoid spoilers because it was too difficult). There's things I still want to see, but I was having trouble with the live streaming today- for some reason, it wouldn't let me log in through my tv provider- so I'll watch them later.
But really, I need to stop staying up until 1-2 am watching things. I'm really, really tired today and yesterday I wound up taking a 5 hour nap without realizing it (well, I knew I was falling asleep, and that was fine, but I usually only sleep for an hour or so when I do that). Part of that was because I went swimming yesterday and that always wears me out, but part of it was being short on sleep, too. But it's fun! I like sports, in general, and I love the Olympics for ridiculously sentimental gooey reasons and I don't even try to be cynical about them. I really will watch anything and anyone, from any country, regardless of whether I know what's going on or not. I'm currently watching Sweden and Iceland in handball. I have no idea what's really going on, since I've not seen handball before, but hey, it's kinda cool. I do know what's going on in the swimming events- I used to swim competitively in high school, and while I sucked mightily, I did learn all the basics and I've followed it enough since to have a pretty decent grasp of strategy, etc. And I understand basketball well enough. But part of the fun is watching stuff I've never seen before or only see very rarely.
