Challenge #2:
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Drop a link to your post in the comments. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.

Nothing, by busaikko, Harry Potter. Busaikko has introduced me to a great number of works and ideas and even a fandom or two (my watching Stargate:Atlantis is totally due to having read all of her SGA fic well before I ever saw the show). This was one of the first stories I read by her, back when I read much more Snape/Lupin fic than I do now. This story just shattered me at the time. It still does, although maybe for different reasons.

Pattycake, Stargate SG-1. This is part of an SG1 alternate universe created by Synedochic and Ivory Gates. Actually, I think they describe it as an AU of an AU. Basically, they took the idea of what would happen if Cam Mitchell had not recovered as well from the crash in Antarctica as he did in the show and was therefore unable to continue with the SGC. And what if Jack O'Neill's clone didn't completely fall off the map. And then, add in an extra twist of a genderswap, making Cam into Cammie. Add in a Daniel Jackson, who's kind of flipped his shit and really needs someone to help pick up the pieces, except SG-1 isn't there to do it anymore. Throw in some interesting perspectives on identity and cultural norms, both sexual and otherwise, and you've got the Mezzanine Universe. This particular story takes place a while after Cammie, JD (Jack's clone) and Daniel all enter into a relationship and I like it in particular because it's a snippet of life in their household once some of the major issues have been worked out. It's a calm and homey piece. Note: Synedochic and Ivory Gates have a no-warning policy for the majority of their work. So, tread lightly if you need to. This particular piece doesn't involve anything that I would think should have a warning, but other parts of the series might.

Kalliergo, by Domenika Marzione, Stargate:Atlantis : Do I really have to only pick one of [livejournal.com profile] miss_porcupine's SGA fics? Seriously, that's a very tough task. I adore her OCs and I love the realism of her stories. But if I can only pick one, I'm going to pick the first one I read, which is about the early days of the Expedition on Atlantis and all the logistics that went into keeping them all fed on something more than MREs. Go read it, then go devour the rest of her stories- that link is to her fic site itself, which has the whole list, I do believe.

Lust, Like, Love (Not Necessarily in that Order, by [livejournal.com profile] thefannishwaldo, NCIS:Los Angeles: This is another writer that I'm just going to tell you to go read all of her stuff. I couldn't pick a favorite (her most recent Yuletide story was definitely up there on the list), but I decided this one represented her work really well without having to have seen a lot of NCIS:LA. Her Callen and my Callen are pretty similar (I like hers better than mine, actually). You should also check out her older SGA work, too, which was the fandom I first found her in a couple years ago.

These Men Who Have Flown (A Farm in Iowa story) by [livejournal.com profile] sheafrotherdon, Stargate:Atlantis: This is one of my favorite AUs in the whole wide world. I *adore* The Farm in Iowa series. Cate takes John and Rodney and plops them down on John's grandfather's family farm, which he inherited. There are babies and dogs and tractors and so much love that you can't help but hug yourself while you read it. This particular story is the third main story (there's assorted snippets as well) and I do believe it may be my favorite.

Ok, I'm going to stop there, because if I don't, I'll go on all night. Other particular recs can be found on my Delicious- link is in the sidebar ("The Librarian Recommends") and here.
