Snowflake Challenge #7
Jan. 7th, 2012 09:53 amGetting a jump on this before I go start cooking for Family Day. 18 people. One house. Going to be a madness of the best order.
Challenge #7 In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. Drop a link to your wish-list in this post. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post.
I have not done a lot of participating in things like Yuletide or fic exchanges. The two times I did, I failed, miserably, to deliver (and I still have not delivered on one of them- and I feel incredibly guilty about that and I'm actually planning on finishing the story soon because even if the recipient doesn't want to read it anymore, I need to finish it). The lesson I took away from those two experiences is that it's a bad idea for me to be a part of that sort of thing. I have ADD and I only have so much focus power to go around and unfortunately, real life deadlines and things have to take priority over fandom things, so I shouldn't set myself (and someone else) up for failure. Which makes me kind of sad, because it does seem like a lot of fun, and I loved the story I got from the one fic exchange. But since this isn't actually a thing, I did come up with three things I'd like.
1)I'd love artwork for a story. I'm not a visual person. I don't see things in my head unless I'm dreaming and even then not always. I hear things, like they're being read to me. So I don't know what any of the scenes in my stories look like. I know what they sound like, but not what they look like.
2)At one point, it seemed like it was kind of a thing for people to do DVD commentaries of stories. I don't know if that's still a thing or if it's died out, but that was a lot of fun. It was interesting reading the meta behind people's stories. I'd love to see more of that, because I like talking about that kind of thing. I like seeing where people's personal canon meshes or doesn't mesh with official cannon and why they choose to believe what they do for their personal canon.
3)I'd be interested to see if anyone had a mental soundtrack for any of my stories. I have one, or at least a song, for most, if not all of my stories. I used to put lyrics at the beginning chapters, but I don't really do that anymore. Of course, there's about a 4 year gap between when I used to write a lot and now, when I'm just starting to write again, so it's hard to say what I really do now.
