Sans Voir (NCIS:LA)

miss_lucy21I'm still trying to catch my breath here. That is...not what I thought would happen.
For the record, I am so, so, SO glad I was wrong in what I thought was going to happen. I had pretty much figured it was going to have to involve the Chameleon (I don't watch the episode trailers, so if that was mentioned in the trailer, I didn't know about it and I didn't happen to watch anything live on CBS that week, so I didn't see any of the commercials). And given what the Chameleon had threatened G with- "I know where you live. I know who you care about"- and given that I had inadvertently seen a spoiler that said someone is going to die, I was thinking that Sam was going to be a victim here. I was upset about Renko (I liked him, actually, and wished they'd used him more), somewhat less upset about Hunter (her, I did not like so much, but there's plenty of impact with seeing the results on Hetty), but oh, man. Glad it wasn't Sam. Or Kensi or Deeks, for that matter.
I'm definitely going to have to watch it again to get the nuances and details- they did a really good job with evoking the emotional response that I know for certain I missed things. But the entire time, I kept saying, "think it through, G. Think the whole thing through." because I don't think he was completely thinking with his whole brain, if that makes sense. He's very isolated during the whole thing. Just him and the Chameleon. No safety nets for G. Or, very little of one- I'm not sure Hetty counts as safe at the moment. And I've been waiting for oh, at least 2 years, to see what happens when you push G the step too far, and well, apparently we've found that out now. Although, I did not think this was the hill he was going to die for (yes, I know, nothing is for certain yet, but the potential is there).
But yes, it is a roller coaster and a gut punch. And now my brain gets to spin scenarios until September.
