Grumble

1) I planned to make pizza for dinner. Put the dough in the bread machine, hit the button, went off to do other things while it did its thing. Came back 2.5 hours later (which is the length of the dough cycle on the machine). Opened lid. Saw very sad and sorry looking lump of dough that did not look like pizza dough. Stood there for a moment and thought back over what I did when I put the ingredients in the machine. Cursed soundly in multiple languages when I realized that I forgot to put the yeast into the machine. AGAIN (I've done this multiple times. My only guess for why is that the yeast goes into a dispenser in the lid of the machine, but my brain thinks I'm done dumping things in when I shut the lid). This means, no, we are not having pizza for dinner. And I have wasted a batch worth of ingredients, which is not the biggest deal in the world- I mean, it's a couple cups of flour, some olive oil, salt and water. We have plenty of all of these things. But my brain sometimes still sticks on the "not enough food in the cupboards" thing even though it is not true at the moment. I did manage to come up with a plan B that used the rest of the pizza ingredients- we had a couple of cans of crescent rolls in the fridge, so we'll have pizza pockets instead.

2) Although I managed to come up with plan B for dinner, I did not manage to ascertain the whereabouts of everyone before putting the pizza pockets in the oven. Turned out that, no, my dad was not about to walk through the door at any moment. So, the pockets, which only take 15 minutes to cook, have been complete and sitting on the stove top for over an hour, because Dad was still at work. He just now called to say he's on his way home. Hopefully these things reheat ok.

3) I have a job interview out of town on Wednesday. This would be good, except the logistics of the whole thing (having all the stuff I need, having a place to stay over, prepping for the interview itself) is making my brain explode for some reason. It's not the first time I've done this, so I don't know why everything is so much harder this time.

4) I've been getting over a not terrible, but not fun, case of bronchitis. I felt like utter death for about a week, got some antibiotics, started feeling human again after about 4 days of antibiotics. I finished the antibiotics and was starting to be pretty much recovered when yesterday I started feeling awful again. It's not unusual for me to need two rounds of antibiotics to kick this kind of crap, so I'm not surprised, but I'm not thrilled, either, because I really don't need this right now. For one, it's usually nice to not be sick for a job interview. For another, it's kept me out of the pool for two weeks and I am all of a sudden understanding the whole "exercise is good for your mood" thing.

So yeah. This camper is not the happiest at the moment.

1) Maybe you should attach a sticky note to the top of the bread machine that says "DON'T FORGET THE YEAST!" for next time.

3) Good luck with your interview! I was traveling a lot for work for a while (like, every week for 3 months) and yet Sunday night/Monday morning every week I would still stress about whether I had everything I needed for the week. Even knowing I'd be just down the road from a Wal-Mart, I'd still stress. Sometimes we just stress about weird things. You'll be fine, and you'll ROCK the interview.
