Have I spent my day reading things about the Affordable Care Act being upheld by the Supreme Court? Yes, yes I have. Am I supposed to be doing other things? Yup. Have I written off being productive today? Pretty much.

Am I really, really, *really* glad that I'm living someplace with air conditioning today, as it's currently 92 degrees and forecast to hit 100? Yes. Unequivocally. I lived without central air for the past four summers. Most of the time, it wasn't a big deal, but there was a two week period last summer where I could not leave my bedroom because that was where my portable AC was (I can't sleep with open windows for most of the year due to asthma and allergies). The poor portable AC couldn't cool the room down past 85, so it was still very hot in there, but it was considerably cooler than the estimated 110 degrees in the rest of my 3rd floor apartment. And it was a walkup and I couldn't breathe very well in the heat, and every time I left the apartment, I couldn't make it back up the stairs without wheezing horribly. I was so scared of triggering an asthma attack that I just didn't go anywhere unless I had to. This is so much better- I'm still definitely not leaving the house today (I might try tomorrow, it's supposed to be slightly cooler) but I'm not confined to one spot and I can breathe.

~>100F is vicious even on Israeli scale. (Except for Jordan Valley, but the rest of us ignore Jordan Valley for a reason.)

I hope that at least the humidity is low?

102F/35% ~ 32C/75%, in terms of heat index. The dryness tends to be overall easy to handle (except for the higher risk of dehydration, as people don't feel themselves losing water), but it wouldn't surprise me if it's harder on the lungs. Breathing in high humidity, high heat feels labourous, but it's the low humidity that makes chronic-inflammatory breathing conditions flare up.
