I got paid for last week's two days of work (apparently I get paid weekly? I guess I'll find out. My question about the pay schedule to my temp agency went unanswered, but I may have sent it to the wrong person). So, Mom and I went shopping this afternoon to augment my work wardrobe because I have seriously never held a full time job where I had to wear business appropriate clothes. Yes, seriously. Yes, I'm 33 and been out of undergrad for 10+ years. My last full time job was at a tiny, tiny nonprofit in a small town where khaki pants were universally considered dressy. I had to wear business appropriate clothes maybe once a month (if that) when we went to meetings up in the city or had grant officials come to see us. My last full time job before that was in retail, and our uniform was jeans and a company t-shirt. I've had several part time jobs that needed dressy clothes, but I was never there more than three days a week, so four or five shirts and two pairs of pants really sufficed. Not so much for a five day a week job unless I want to be doing laundry very frequently. So, I stole a couple shirts from my mom (we're roughly the same size, but not the same coloring at all, so a lot of her things don't look good on me) and then bought some clothes today so I have about ten tops now, I think.

I bought an abstract print shirt in purple/pink/grey and a taupe with grey floral print shirt. Also I got a black 3/4 sleeve cardigan, a navy 3/4 sleeve cardigan and a black short sleeve cardigan that I can mix in with the rest of my clothes so it at least looks like I'm sort of maybe wearing a different shirt. I also got two pairs of black flats. One has cut-outs all along the sides and one has like a strap across the top. So now I have four pairs of work appropriate shoes- three black and one navy. I can't wear the same pair of dress shoes every day- my feet complain about that- so I really needed at least one more pair to rotate in, particularly since I don't really have enough blue clothes to wear the navy shoes more than once a week (I need some more grey pants and some navy pants, but I had a limited amount of money today and shopping for pants requires more spoons than I had at my disposal. If I get hired on full time, then we'll go out to the outlet mall and spend some real money). Everything was on sale (two of the cardis were 50% off and the rest of the tops were 30% off) and Mom helped with the shoes (I was only going to get one of the pairs, but she insisted I get both because I had to get rid of almost all of my shoes when it became clear that my back problems had become chronic and I wasn't going to be able to wear anything with a heel anymore. I never wore very high heels- we're talking less than 2 inches, always- but I can't even handle the low ones anymore. Flats only).

Hmm. Maybe I'll do a fashion show tomorrow and take some photos while I figure out what combinations work well for things. I'd like to have some planned outfits so I don't have to think so hard in the morning and photos would help with that. It's too dark for photos tonight.
