So. My father. Who has terrible eyesight. Like, legally blind without his glasses bad. Has gotten in the habit of taking his glasses off to read. And, since he spends a lot of time reading, he's gotten used to just not having his glasses on and has grown accustomed to walking around the house without his glasses (thus far, he's thankfully managed to not leave the house without them). Well, the man has worn glasses since he was 8 years old. So, he doesn't have that "keep track of your glasses" tickle in the back of his brain that people who only wear reading glasses often have. And so, the glasses get left places. Usually, they're obvious places, like his place at the table (that's where he uses his laptop), or on his desk in the study. Sometimes, though...
I get out of the shower tonight and come downstairs to find him scouring the basement for his glasses. He can't remember where he last had them. They're not on the table. They're not in the bathroom. They're not...yeah. So, it turns into a full family search for his glasses. And the whole time, I'm trying not to die laughing because 1) he's looking for them in the way he used to scream at me for looking for things. i.e., not under things, not logically, etc. And 2) it's the sort of thing that I do all the time (although not with my glasses. Those stay on my face) and that is something he has been known to get violently frustrated with. And then! I'm the one who finds them next to the printer! Because he forgot he went into that room to get something from the printer! Which is also the sort of response I'd get the verbal equivalent of a Gibbs-smack for.
...irony is sweet sometimes.
