Adventures in Grocery Shopping

miss_lucy211) I'm browsing the beer section at the grocery with my mom (she drinks beer, I don't drink anything, but I like looking at all the different kinds because the labels are fun) and I come across a whole display of Kona Brewing Company beer, which included Longboards. Which made the Hawaii Five-O fan in me squee just a smidgen. If I drank, I would have bought some just to try. I tried to get Mom to get some, but she wasn't interested.
2) While we're browsing the beer, my dad was over looking for some candy that we had coupons for. He's debating over which kind he wants to get when a woman walks up behind him and says, "it's all fattening, you don't need any of it" and walks away. Dad is like, "...the hell", puts the candy in the cart and comes to find us. Apparently he's never had anything like that happen to him before. I guess men get less of the food police? Because that's not an uncommon thing in my experience. It doesn't happen all the time, but often enough. I mostly just roll my eyes and ignore it when that happens, but it's annoying at best and infuriating at worst. I kind of can't believe no one's ever done that to my dad before, actually. (Dad is a big guy. Not a super big guy, but heavier than average. I come by my fat honestly from both sides of the family).
3) I cannot understand why on earth coupon manufacturers put barcodes on the coupons that can't be read by counter scanners. And the poor cashier's hand scanner wasn't working, so she had to manually key in almost all of our coupons.
4) Hey, fellow Central Ohioans? This is like the 97th winter storm of the year. Do you really think you need to stock up on milk and bread again? Surely you still have some from the other week...
5) I was completely unaware that Matzoh came in so many varieties. I should have gotten some; I actually like Matzoh.
