Sinus infection. 10 days of high test antibiotics (I'm allergic to all of the more common ones). The pharmacy threatened to not give me the antis, because there's a drug interaction between this particular one and my Advair, but after I explained that 1) it is not a common interaction, 2) it is really only a risk if you are on the highest dosage of Advair and I am on the lowest possible dosage and 3) my allergist says it's not an issue for me, they capitulated. They also marked it in my record that this antibiotic is fine for me to take. Hopefully that will work in the future.
I have to say, though, I go to the best primary care doctors in the city. My doctor was on vacation, so I had to go out to their same day center. Nobody thought it was necessary to weigh me (I don't object, but really, it's irrelevant to a sinus infection), I said I needed the large cuff on the blood pressure machine, and the nurse was already swapping it out before I finished saying anything and was completely matter of fact and non-judgmental about it. There was no hint that if I wasn't fat, I wouldn't have this problem (which is completely false. I have a congenital defect. I was literally born with problematic sinuses. It wouldn't matter if I were 100 pounds, I would still have chronic sinusitis). And they got bonus points for listening to the person with the chronic illness and respecting my experience (I know when my sinuses are probably fucked up. There has only been one time in my 15+ years of dealing with this on my own- i.e. without my mom advocating or me- that I've thought they were infected when they actually weren't). Good doctors, all around.
