I'm starting to really settle into something that looks more and more like an actual life, not a temporary existence. Mostly. There's still some temporary parts of my life, living situations being one of them, but Things are starting to settle.

The living situation is still do-able, but yeah, I want to move out. Sooner rather than later. My dad has some anger issues that are generally well managed by medication. However, he's decided to stop taking the medication, which was fine for awhile, because he's also been spending a lot of time on this Lay Cistercian thing, and that helped. But lately, he's gotten more...yelly. And I do not like it when he yells and gets angry. It is difficult to live with at best and well. Possibly borderline abusive at worst. It's still better than when I was kid. But still not something I'm happy to live with long term. It's possible my mom is going to try and talk him into going back on the medication, but still. It's still probably going to be late winter/spring before I can afford to move out, though. I don't think I can manage before November and at that point, waiting for spring is the best option (I have moved in snow. I would prefer not to do that again).

But, in the meantime, I'm starting to explore things like a social life. I've got my tutoring (on hiatus right now, but will start back up in about a month), my swimming group and I went to a knitting group last week and really enjoyed it. And there's tag wrangling and my other internet groups. And somehow, that's gotten me a little more interesting in taking care of myself. I want to do some PT for my back- partly because I'm tired of the pain, but partly because my brother, SIL and I want to go on a white water rafting trip next summer and right now, I'm pretty sure my back would not hold up for that. I also got myself a pedicure (sparkly pink toes!), which is not the sort of thing I'd have considered doing a few months ago. Also, I ordered some samples of skin care products to see if I can find things that will work with my overly sensitive, highly allergic skin that may work on my breakouts. The company I ordered from is known for products that don't have irritating ingredients or fragrances, so, I'm hopeful. And they have samples, so I only have to spend a couple of dollars ($1 for the sample, plus shipping, which was reasonable) to find out if a $15 product will work. Love that.

So, things may actually be okay. That's...a different feeling.
