Not my favorite month

miss_lucy21So, we began the month with prepping a management report for a giant meeting that was taking place in my office (our team is spread across the country, although my building has the largest concentration of people- there's 13 of us here in Ohio- which is why the main 3rd quarter meeting was happening here). I did 42 iterations of that report and no, I am not exaggerating. I counted. My bosses were going a little spare, as the Brits would say. I was in the middle and not getting any of my other work done (no one really minded, they all knew what I was doing).
Then there was the week of the meeting, which was stressful because of All The Visitors In The World. I'm responsible for coordinating these sorts of things, so I had to find space for everyone and coordinate food, meeting supplies, etc. So I was very busy. Then finally everyone went home and I wheedled half a personal day on Friday because my sinuses were starting to flare and I was hoping a little extra rest would help me kick it over the weekend.
Nope. Full fledged sinus infection, a pretty bad one. I spent the weekend in bed, tried to get up to go to work on Monday and couldn't do it. Started running a fever (that never happens), so I figured I'd go see the doctor, particularly since I couldn't get the sinuses to start draining at all (they weren't even draining down my throat, which is where the draining usually starts due to my sinus defect). So I missed 3 days of work this week. Fortunately, my direct manager was very understanding (I mean, I have sick days. I just...being chronically sick is not generally good for job security). And also, perhaps somewhat fortunately, the boss I spend most of my time supporting was out all week with bronchitis (I mean, I'm not glad he was sick- I've had bronchitis many, many times and it sucks, but it did mean that there was less workload for other people to pick up my slack).
So, I get back to work, everything is fine, although I'm exhausted. And then my mom gets fired from her job on Friday afternoon. For really specious reasons. And they made her work until 3:30 until telling her, because they were assholes about it.
