So, I didn't mean to stop taking my antidepressant. It just sort of happened, because I was having trouble remembering to take the script to the pharmacy (same stuff, just needed a new script because I was out of refills, and somehow I had a paper script instead of the doctor's office calling it in. I can't quite remember why). So, in December, when it is dark, when the weather was bouncing around from cold to quite warm, when work was being overly stressful, I went 5 days with no Prozac. Well, at least I know I still need it, right? Also, antidepressant withdrawal is apparently a real thing (luckily, Prozac is not a super short acting drug and so the withdrawal symptoms aren't as severe).

And to be honest, I've been doing a rather crappy job of taking care of myself the past little while anyway. So, this week, I'm going to try this:

1) get to the pool at least twice. Three times would be better, but it's supposed to ice again tomorrow night, so Monday morning may not be a possibility (Monday, Wednesday and Friday are really the only mornings I can go to the pool. There's a swim class on Tuesdays and Thursday mornings at the time I would be there and that means lanes are at a premium. I used to do the swim class, but they got a number of very fast swimmers and I couldn't keep up, so I stopped going).

2) Pay attention to whether I'm hungry. And if I'm hungry, eat something. And if that something could include some protein, that would probably be a good idea (When I'm cold, all I want are carbs).

3) do my PT work at least twice. I've really slacked on this and that's a bad idea.

So, if you see me online this week, feel free to poke and ask me if I'm behaving.

I only see you online when it's 05:30 for you.

Also, get halva. It's sweet, your brain will totally think it's candy, and it's actually a good source of protein. (Well, you'll need to check the particular brand you find because I imagine the US would manage to turn it into actual candy, but.) Alternatively, get raw sesame paste (tahini), get honey, and mix them at a 2:1 tehina:honey ratio to make honey halva. Keeps in a jar in the fridge - if you manage to not eat the whole jar at once.

Oh, and see if you can't convince your body to have lentils instead of rice, pasta, etc. (Lentil soup!) My body throws a fit at it since it decided lentils are neither carb nor protein, but for most people this trick works.

Whereas I have "Foods my immune system doesn't like", "Foods my digestive system doesn't like", and "Foods my brain throws a fit over because either my immune or my digestive system used to hate, upon a time".

Sesame paste should be easier to get than halva. You can mix it with about 1/5 to 1/3 water and a bit of lemon juice and salt (and cumin, garlic or both, based on taste) to make edible tehina, or you can mix it 2:1 with a syrup (e.g. honey, maple, silan) to get halva. Sesame paste is the source of protein here, so.

(Here's a really fun sandwich: get a burekas or a croissant. Tehina, hard-boiled egg, tomato, pickles. Well, it'll work in any bread - hell, I made potato salad out of it - but it's extra fun in a cheese burekas.)
