Meet Celerity. That is obviously not my actual car- it's too cold today (and now too dark) to mess about with taking photographs. But yes, that's the car. It's silver.

I test drove two cars on Saturday- one was a Hyundai Elantra wagon (liked it, but it was too much car for just me), the other was a 2011 Corolla, which went on the short list. Well, then Dad was poking around and found a really great deal on a Prius C- it was about $2500 off the price, which put it within my price range. So, Sunday, I went to the Toyota dealer and test drove that and a 2014 Corolla. The only thing was, we were estimating that the monthly payments on all of the cars was going to be $300-ish, and I'd been thinking $250, max.

But, I called the bank on Monday anyway and asked them to run the numbers with the Prius and the 2011 Corolla. They called me back and said the payments would be pretty much the same- about $320 a month. This is because the interest rate on the 2011 was 4 points higher- 8.8% vs. 4.86%- and for 60 months instead of 72. So, then I played around with the budget a little while eating lunch and discovered that $320 really wasn't a stretch like I thought it would be. Actually, it would be pretty reasonable on my current take home pay and it's very likely that I'm getting a raise (I don't know how much yet, but my review was spectacular and my group had an extremely good year. I'll find out in mid January). So, I called the dealership and said I'd be over after work (okay, my parents were like, so we're going to the dealership when you get off work, right? No, honey, we are going to the dealership when you get done with work. They decided to be a little bit pushy because I sent them the budget to make sure I wasn't missing something critical, and they kind of wanted me to make a decision already).

We got to the dealership around 20 to 6. We walked out around 20 to 9 with the car (my parents had to come so they could take my other car home- I wasn't trading it in, Dad's taking it. That and I wanted someone there with me, just in case something screwy happened. Which it did not). $2500 under MSRP. The dealer ran the financing to see if they could beat the bank, and actually got me a slightly lower interest rate with the same terms, so I went ahead and signed the papers with them.

I'm not sure who's more excited, me or Dad, because he has a car again.

Cool! It looks lovely and from what little I know about cars, it's considered to be a good car.

Congratulations:)
