Keep Breathing

miss_lucy21Today, I (we) start the Great Moving Purge of 2014. My dad moved all the boxes and totes of my stuff from both the garage and the basement into the living room (not the room we spend all our time in- we have both a family room and a formal living room). So far, after about an hour's worth of work, I have 2 empty boxes, 2 full trash bags, 1 box for things that may be salable/donate-able, and three consolidated boxes of things I'm keeping. I have a spreadsheet going in Google Drive. We have also found a microwave in the basement that appears to function, but will need to be cleaned up before a final determination can be made about it's usefulness (the microwave I had in my last apartment got dented pretty badly in the move down here, which is not a good thing for microwave). I'm taking a break now to eat and to let my back calm down. I'm going to have to institute the Unfuck Your Habitat 20/10 method of dealing with this stuff, I think, partly to keep my back from pitching a fit about this and partly because yeah, attention span.
I have more stuff than I thought I did. A lot of it will probably get trashed (I am being liberal with the trash bags. Things are going in them that are perfectly good but I just don't want and that are probably not appropriate to donate and would not be worth trying to sell), but yeah, a lot of stuff. Granted, a good chunk of it is probably things I will keep because I need them- all my kitchen stuff is in some of these boxes, for example. But there's stuff that, just, no. It's not my life anymore. I am keeping a selection of things- I found a bunch of cards people had given me and I kept a handful that I particularly liked- but not most of it. Although, it was amusing to discover my brother used to give me extremely sappy, I'm so glad you are my sister cards when he was a young teenager. I may have to tease him about that, a little bit.
