Well, I've been sort of failing to Adult for several years, given that I was in my 30s and living with my parents, but now I'm finding new (old) ways to fail to Adult.

I kind of knew this would happen, but that doesn't help. Basically, I need to relearn how to feed myself without external stimuli. This hasn't really ever been my strong suit, but I did used to sort of manage it more or less.

So, I went to the grocery store on my way home from work. I bought things like pierogi and hamburgers and bacon (all things that don't require a large amount of effort to cook). And I bought things that I can cook a large-ish (think enough to feed a family of 4-6 for one meal) meal and divvy up and freeze. The plan is that I'll make some chili and some salsa chicken (both things that freeze really well and can be quickly used in several different ways to make a meal) this weekend. That, plus the easy to throw together food should give me at least two, if not three weeks worth of dinner. I can handle heating something up in the microwave on the nights I get home between 7:30 and 8. I can manage up to 20-30 minutes of cooking most nights that I get home by 6:30. I just need to have things to do that with, and I didn't have that this week (I did a bad job grocery shopping when I went right after I moved in).

I'm also trying to do a good job of allergy management. It's finally (mostly) spring here- the tree pollen levels are creeping up to problematic levels. I'm trying to avoid a sinus infection/bronchitis issue because I really don't have time to deal with it (plus, it's obviously just a good idea in general). Therefore, I'm doing things like changing the sheets every week, changing my clothes as soon as I get home, and showering before I go to bed. I also turned the air conditioning on. It's really not nearly hot enough outside, but it's too warm in the apartment to not have the windows open (particularly in the bedroom- I like it cool when I'm sleeping). It's on the 3rd floor, it gets a fair amount of sun during the day, and the appliances put out a decent amount of heat when they're running that would probably not be terribly noticeable in a house, but in a smaller space it's really apparent. I don't have the AC on very high (just enough to keep it comfortable) and I'm only running it when I'm home, but I still feel kind of ridiculous having the AC on in April. But if it keeps the allergies at bay, it's totally worth it.

I'm hoping next week things get a little better, and then a little better the week after. I am mostly succeeding at working out every day- I skipped today because I was just a wreck last night and couldn't manage this morning, but I either walked a mile or did my PT work every other day this week. So, there's that, anyway.
