So far, not so good. My air conditioner was broken for over a week (actually 12 days) and so I’d been sleeping with the windows open. I am not supposed to do that. I am especially not supposed to do that when the pollen levels are high, which they have been for the past 6 weeks. So, probably unsurprisingly, my asthma decided to rear its ugly head and remind me that I do have a debilitating chronic illness (it’s generally rather well controlled, so as long as I take my meds, I get to pass as someone with functioning lungs about 90% of the time). It didn’t get bad enough for an ER visit, but yesterday was bad enough to require three doses of the Benedryl+rescue inhaler combo, which is not good. So, I called the doctor this morning, they called me in some prednisone (and a heavy duty course of it, *sigh*) and I am already breathing better. It helps that the maintenance folks came and fixed my air conditioning this morning.

But it does mean I’ve missed two days of work (and am now officially out of sick days, but I have personal days and a couple of unscheduled vacation days, so I will hopefully be okay). And there was obviously no way I was going to work out the past two days. Working out may or may not happen the rest of this week, actually- it will depend on how I feel on Thursday and Friday. Chances are good that it won’t happen- I don’t get the prednisone euphoria where you feel fantastic. I turn into a grumpy, achy, exhausted mess (exhausted because it makes my insomnia worse).

The plus side? I will probably make my calorie goals, because prednisone typically jacks my appetite up to high. So that’s something, I suppose.
