And I'm kind of annoyed about it, because I know I picked it up at work, because my coworkers don't seem to quite understand the concept of sick days and/or working from home when they are probably contagious (we all have the ability to work from home). I'm amazingly lucky I don't get sick more often, given the fact that my immune system is partially compromised from my asthma medicine (I have gotten sick a lot less since I found out my Vitamin D levels were severely low and I started taking supplements. That, plus the vitamin C in another supplement seems to actually help. Who knew?).  I'm especially sad because I was supposed to go down and see family tomorrow, and obviously I am not going to be able to do that, because I'm not taking the chance of giving this to my baby cousins (one of whom is only 6 weeks old).

So I feel really awful, but my body is actually attempting to run a fever, for values of fever that equal "hovering around 99F/37.2C"- I know, that's technically still normal, but the inhaled steroids suppress that immune response. Normal for me ranges between about 97.5/36.3 and 98/36.6, so 99/37.2 is roughly equivalent to 100/37.7 for most people. And since it's actually making the attempt at immune response, I don't want to discourage that by taking some ibuprofen for my pounding headache. I did take my inhaler this morning because I was coughing pretty badly (not productively) and that seems to have killed the worst of the cough unless I'm moving around a lot. Fortunately, this seems to be the kind of bug that makes you feel like death for about 48-72 hours and then you just sort of sound like crap for another week (in my case, probably 2 weeks). I am hoping that I will at least be up for working at home by Monday (I have another personal day I can use on Monday if I have to. I am not going into the office if I haven't been fever free for 24 hours because I am actually aware of how to not spread crud on to other people, even if I am actually out of sick days, unlike most of my coworkers. Yes, yes, I am bitter about this). So I'm just drinking lots of water and trying to eat anything that sounds remotely appetizing, even if it's not the most nutritionally sound choice (I'm getting low blood sugar hungry at the points when I would normally eat, but I don't really have an appetite. But eating will help me get better sooner). And sleeping. And when I'm not sleeping, I'm parked on the couch.

If you have to take something for fever, Tylenol is better. It'll even work for illness-related hypothermia.

Add zinc to your supplements unless a counter-indication exists. And if you can get lemon balm, it'll kill the existing round of cold.
