Sep. 18th, 2014 06:46 pmI'm curating my Run playlist down to a race day play list that's just the songs that really give me that little extra something, and I'm discovering that a lot of the songs that are going to wind up on the race day list are very explicitly about people having sex. Which is interesting because I don't exactly have sex...
I mean, look, would I like to find a person to be my partner and spend my life with and raise a family with? Yes, absolutely, and I should put some more effort into that (okay, any effort into that). Do I want to go out and find a person to have sex with? No. Not in the slightest. I'm okay with the concept that finding a life partner is probably going to involve sex in some fashion, but it's like number 101 on a list of 100 things I'm looking for in a partner. So, it's funny that the songs I'm putting on my race day list are things with lyrics like "you can do it, put your ass into it" (it gets more explicit from there).
(My run playlist is mostly 90s-00s rap (my wheelhouse when it comes to rap, in so much as I have one), some classic rock, some pop, a bit of punk (more on the pop-punk side. Some more classic stuff is good, but a lot of it is too screamy for me and makes me anxious), and a bit of indie/alternative rock that's more up tempo with a steady beat. It's really functional and I like it, but it's not the kind of music I'm going to put on for hanging around the house or driving home from work).
