How to Get Away With Murder

miss_lucy21I just watched the pilot episode of this new show. I'll probably watch at least one more episode before deciding whether I want to continue. The plot was good. The acting is good. And I think Viola Davis kicks ass. The thing is, there's a lot of predatory type sex going on in the episode- it all seemed to be consensual, with one possible exception that wasn't actually a sexual act but was still sexually predatory. It was making me a little queasy in spots. And it involves first year law students who are very bright and very high strung because they are 1L and I'm not sure I can watch that without hitting a lot of anxiety buttons.
So, on one hand, I want to watch the show because there's a diverse cast with strong women (women of color, even), it has gay characters and has demonstrated that it's not going to shy away from sex between them, and it's attention grabbing/has an interesting premise. On the other hand, unless they dial back on some of the stuff I found problematic, yeah. Not going to be able to watch it.
