Nov. 2nd, 2014 07:51 pmI have accepted that life sucks at the moment and I'm going to be tired as hell for the foreseeable future and have started to figure out what I can do to make things easier without making things harder at the same time (it's an ADHD thing. I can think of many, many things that would ultimately make my life easier that would totally outstrip the amount of focus and energy I can devote to this issue right now).
So, I have made breakfast burritos as usual, but I've also made salad in a jar for lunches and portioned out chips and trail mix snacks. So I should just be able to grab a burrito, yogurt, a salad, crackers/carb thing, chips, trail mix and some clementines and throw them in my lunch bag and not have to actually fix either lunch or breakfast this week. I also got a small magnetic whiteboard weekly calendar, that's now on the fridge and I've written one thing on my list of weekly chores on every day of the week. I also wrote a dinner suggestion (I'm not calling it a dinner plan because sometimes I can't deal with what I planned on three days earlier, but having a suggestion is helpful) and a workout. It's right at eye level, so I will see it when I open the fridge. I also got another small white board and attached it to the inside of the front door so I see a reminder to make sure I have my wallet, phone, keys and food before I walk out the door (I almost always remember all of these things, but sometimes when I'm overwhelmed, I have trouble with them). I can also put other items that I need to remember to do or take with me. I used to do this in another apartment, and I don't know why I didn't set it up when I moved in here.
We'll see if that helps any.

Date: 2014-11-03 01:17 pm (UTC)Meds, however, are a much more serious issue. I deal with those by having really ingrained routines and safeguards. Every Sunday night, I sort the meds for the week into a pill box that has sections for each morning and evening. That way I'm sure I don't miss any (I pay close attention while I'm filling the box and that has it's own routine too) and I can tell if I have taken them at any given time because the compartment will either be full or empty. That way I don't take them twice because I can't remember if I did.
Thanks, darling! You always have good tips about ADD
